The Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC) jointly with the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan presented the "Kazakh-Russian-English dictionary of finance and banking terms, “Phrasebook for bank employees and consumers of financial services" in the 12 most widely spoken languages of the world, as well as teaching aids for the study of the Kazakh language in the financial and banking fields.
The book was prepared under the project "Teaching and dictionary-reference set of the Kazakh language for the financial and banking field".
Kairat Kelimbetov, the Governor of the Astana International Financial Centre, Eraly Tugzhanov, Deputy Chairman of the Assembly of People of Kazakhstan, Myrzatai Zholdasbekov, Statesman and Adil Akhmetov and Shakir Ibraev, well-known scientists, and others participated in the presentation.
As the Governor of the AIFC noted, the project started three years ago, and its main task is wide dissemination and creation of conditions for the development and strengthening of the Kazakh language in the economic field. "These books will be useful for economists and financiers, and will expand the scope of use of the Kazakh language," – he said.
According to the Deputy Chairman of the Assembly of People of Kazakhstan Eraly Tugzhanov, APK’s key aim is to enhance the unity of the peoples in Kazakhstan, and the state language plays a pivotal role in gaining this purpose.
According to the project’s supervisor, professor Sherubay Kurmanbayuly, more than 40 scientists, linguists, trainers and translators worked on the project.
"Kazakh-Russian-English dictionary of finance and banking terms" covers more than 40 thousands terms and definitions. All terms are systematized, and provided with alternative translations.
Multilevel (beginner, intermediate and advanced) training manuals for employees of financial and banking fields are prepared in accordance with national standards of "KAZTEST" and European standard system.
It should be noted that first "Phrasebook for bank employees and consumers of financial services" published in Kazakhstan covers 12 most widely spoken languages in the world, including English, German, French, Spanish, Arabic, Persian, Japanese, Turkish, Korean, Chinese, Hindi and Russian.
Participants of the presentation highlighted that the complex work of scientists will make a significant contribution to strengthening the role of the Kazakh language in the financial and economic fields.
AIFC. In December 2015, the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, signed the Constitutional Law “On the Astana International Financial Centre” (AIFC). The aim of the AIFC is to form a leading international centre of financial services. For the first time in a post-Soviet region, a common law framework will be introduced in the AIFC. English shall be the official language of the AIFC.
The objectives of the AIFC are to attract investment into the Republic of Kazakhstan economy through the establishment of an attractive environment for investment in financial services, develop local capital markets, ensuring their integration with international capital markets, and develop markets for insurance and banking services and for Islamic financing in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
