AIFC launched the professional development program in the US


During the visit of delegation of the Astana International Financial Centre “Astana” (AIFC) to New York  the official launch of the professional development program AIFC took place. The event was held with the support of the Permanent Mission of Kazakhstan to the United Nations.

Representatives of reknowned corporations, such as JPMorgan, NorthtopGroup, Google, Microsoft, BCG, Barclays, GoldmanSachs, Chevron International, NewYork StockExchange, NASDAQ, Deloitte and other business and academic communities of USA participated in this event.

Professional development program was launched in order to create a pool of of employees talent reserve that will gain professional experience and continue AIFC activities.

The AIFC Governor Kairat Kelimbetov gave a detailed description of financial centre's strategic directions. According to him, the initiative of the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbyaev to create the AIFC is the part of structural reforms in the country. The main goal of the AIFC is to form a leading international center of financial services in Kazakhstan, that’s why, AIFC pays a hugely attention to the quality of human and management capacity of  the AIFC.

Sayasat Nurbek, Managing Director of the AIFC, who presented the professional development program also drew attention to relevance of the Program. As he said, AIFC has tasks to train national specialists, that in the long run will replace foreign personnel at the Financial Centre.

Nouriel Roubini, professor of New York University and well-known economist, during his speech expressed support for establishment of the Financial Centre. According to him, it is necessary not only to attract talented specialists from the world market, but also to develop native human capital of the country. “Kazakh specialists need not only to get technical skills, but also values, corporate culture, ethic and regulatory rules typical precisely for Anglo-Saxon system”.

The professional development program for AIFC employees was elaborated within the framework of special quota allocated this year by the decision of the Republican Commission on   training of personnel abroad. The program consists of two components: academic (training on the basis of Harvard University and New York University) and practical (internship at specialized financial organizations and the financial centre of London, visits to financial organizations, such as NYSE Visit, JP Morgan Chase, NY Federal Reserve, Carlyle Group, FINRA, US Department of Finance and Commerce, NY Supreme Court). To date, two professional development programs in USA and Great Britain for a period of one year are elaborated (from 17 October 2016 – 13 October 2016).

AIFC. On December 2015 President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev signed Constitutional Law on establishment of Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC). The mission of AIFC is formation of leading centre of financial services of the international level. For the first time in the post-Soviet space principles of English law will be introduced, official language of financial centre will be English.

Tasks of AIFC are assistance in attraction of investment in the country’s economy by formation of attractive environment for investment in the field of financial services, development of securities market of Kazakhstan, achievement of its integration with international capital markets. AIFC also aims to develop markets of insurance, banking services and Islamic finance market in the country.
