Astana International Financial Centre and Tsinghua University signed a Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation

Ceremony of signing a Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation between the Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC) and Tsinghua University took place today in Beijing.

According to the signed document, AIFC and Tsinghua University will engage in cooperative educational and research activities for the mutual benefit of both institutions. This includes training programmes and joint research programmes for the AIFC’s employees.

Kairat Kelimbetov, Governor of the AIFC pointed out that preparation of world-class experts is one of the most important tasks for the AIFC to become one of the largest world standard financial hubs.


AIFC. In December 2015 President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev signed the Constitutional law “On the Astana International Financial Centre” (AIFC). The aim of the AIFC is to form a leading international centre of financial services. For the first time in the post-Soviet region, Common law framework will be introduced in the AIFC. English shall be the official language of the AIFC.

The objectives of the AIFC are to attract investment into the economy through the establishment of an attractive environment for investment in the financial services, to develop local capital markets, ensuring their integration with the international capital markets, and to develop markets for insurance and banking services and for Islamic financing in the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Tsinghua University is one of the leading universities in China, established in 1911. National and international rankings list Tsinghua as one of the two best universities in China. In addition, Tsinghua University is a member of the C9 League – China's counterpart to the Ivy League – which was created in 2009 to unite the nine most prestigious universities in China.
