The representatives of the Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC) met with the heads of diplomatic missions in Kazakhstan

Today the representatives of the Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC) met with the heads of diplomatic missions in Kazakhstan.

Ambassador and diplomatic representatives from more than 30 countries took part in the meeting.

The goal of the event was the introduction of the diplomatic representatives with the activities of the AIFC on the eve of the international exhibition EXPO-2017.

As the AIFC Governor Kairat Kelimbetov noted, the idea of creating a financial center belongs to the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev, and the AIFC is part of the National Plan of "100 Concrete Steps" aimed at delivering Five institutional reforms.

Participants of the meeting were informed about the AIFC’s strategic directions of the activities, its objectives and priorities, planned events for the development of the capital market, asset management, Islamic finance, financial technology and "Green" finance in the region.

The heads of diplomatic missions in Kazakhstan expressed confidence in the AIFC's future success due to its uniqueness. The AIFC will be the only financial center in the CIS, functioning on the principles of English Law.

AIFC: In December 2015 President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev signed the Constitutional law “On the Astana International Financial Centre” (AIFC). The aim of the AIFC is to form a leading international centre of financial services. For the first time in post-Soviet region Common law framework will be introduced in the AIFC. English shall be the official language of the AIFC.

 

 The objectives of the AIFC are to attract investment into the economy through the establishment of an attractive environment for investment in the financial services, to develop local capital markets, to ensure their integration with the international capital market, and to develop markets for insurance and banking services and for Islamic financing in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
