The Commission on the Astana International Financial Centre issues under the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan held a meeting

A meeting of the Commission on the Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC) issues, a consultative and advisory body established under the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan was held under the chairmanship of the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Askar Mamin.

The meeting was attended by the Minister of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan Bakhyt Sultanov, the AIFC Governor Kairat Kelimbetov, as well as the representatives of a number of ministries, Akimat of Astana, Sovereign Wealth Fund “Samruk-Kazyna” JSC, “Baiterek National Management Holding” JSC, and “NC “ASTANA EXPO-2017” JSC.

During the meeting, a number of issues regarding the AIFC’s activity were reviewed and approved, in particular, the procedure for the establishment and registration of legal entities in the territory of the AIFC, as well as the creation of the Expat Centre to ensure favourable conditions for entry and localization foreign employees of the AIFC.

                It was decided to hold monthly meetings of the Commission.

AIFC. In December 2015 President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev signed the Constitutional law “On the Astana International Financial Centre” (AIFC). The aim of the AIFC is to form a leading international centre of financial services. For the first time in post-Soviet region Common law framework will be introduced in the AIFC. English shall be the official language of the AIFC.

The objectives of the AIFC are to attract investment into the economy through the establishment of an attractive environment for investment in the financial services, develop local capital markets, ensuring their integration with the international capital markets, and develop markets for insurance and banking services and for Islamic financing in the Republic of Kazakhstan.

 

The Commission on the Astana International Financial Centre issues under the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan established in April 2017, aims to develop proposals aimed at ensuring the effective interaction of all interested state bodies and organizations in implementing a set of measures to form the leading international financial centre in Kazakhstan. The working body of the Commission is the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
