The AIFC Law Academy is an educational platform, established to provide educational legal programs on the AIFC Law.

Mission: The mission of the AIFC Academy of Law is the development of the AIFC legal system through teaching students with the principles of the AIFC law, as well as providing legal education of an international value. At the early stage of AIFC development, it is crucial for the AIFC to actively increase awareness of its legal system for the benefit of both AIFC and non-AIFC lawyers from diverse backgrounds and jurisdictions.

Objective: The main objective of the AIFC Academy of Law is to provide learning and development services. This institution will function as the education, information and promotional institution for familiarising the legal community with the AIFC legal system, principles of AIFC laws, and dispute resolution options – which constitute a core component of the AIFC value proposition. The strategic purpose of the AIFC Academy of Law is driving the development of the intellectual capital of the legal profession and promoting legal knowledge, which is necessary for working in the AIFC jurisdiction.

Strategy: prepare professionals for international commercial law practice; cooperation with international education institutions; provision of other educational services.

Activities: the AIFC Academy of Law main activities are as follows:

1) training specialists for work in the AIFC jurisdiction;

2) legal publications in order to raise awareness of the AIFC and its jurisdiction;

3) organization of educational and informational events for the legal community;

4) provision of a platform for providing free legal consultations by law firms to interested parties at no cost.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
• students of the 3rd or 4th year of undergraduate or postgraduate studies and/or specialists with a diploma of higher education;
• proficient English language speaking and writing skills;
• pass an interview before the commission.

LEGAL EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS OF THE AIFC ACADEMY OF LAW

The AIFC Academy of Law offers a variety of courses designed to prepare legal professionals for international commercial law practice, with flexibility to accommodate busy work schedules. These programmes include lectures and short courses, seminars, and longer certificate courses. Our philosophy is to provide AIFC lawyers with the knowledge and skills required to operate in an increasingly complex global legal system. The course offering covers aspects of AIFC laws and practice, overviews of the national civil law system, as well as principles of comparative of law, conflict of laws, and selected areas of international law that are relevant in a global setting. Courses on emerging jurisprudence also will be available, including legal issues and regulations arising from fintech, artificial intelligence, blockchain, cryptocurrency, data protection and privacy, and digital transformation. International practitioner qualifications program also will be available, in keeping with the Academy’s mission of providing educational opportunities in Nur-Sultan that have global value.
