The AIFC Academy of Law presents a short-term education program “Introduction to Fundamentals of the AIFC Law and English Law” developed for journalists of the Kazakhstan. The program will consist of three (3) modules covering the key “foundational” subjects required to gain a comprehensive understanding of the AIFC legal system, as well as basic principles of the English Law. The program will be conducted in English.


The program “Introduction to Fundamentals of the AIFC Law and English Law” includes the following modules: Fundamentals of the Common Law; Fundamentals of the AIFC Law and Structure; and Foundations in AIFC Dispute Resolution.


This series will be offered from January 25/26 through February 15/16, 2020. Each module will provide two hours of classroom time, delivered as live lectures by AIFC executives, employees, and experts who are subject matter specialists. Pre-work reading assignments must be completed prior to each lecture as will be provided by the AIFC Academy of Law. Students should expect to spend approximately two hours of preparation work for each one hour of live lectures. In total, the Program will consist of 21 hours, 7 hours for live lectures and 14 hours for pre-work reading/preparation. Some lecturers also may assign additional post-lecture work to reinforce the learning process. The lectures will take place each Saturday and Sunday at the AIFC in accordance with the learning schedules for the Russian and Kazakh groups respectively.


After the completion of the modules on 22 February 2020, journalists will be given the opportunity to provide PR covering of the decision of the judicial case/process in the format of their choice. Based on the evaluation of the PR covering, the journalists will be awarded certificates for successful completion of the Program “Introduction to Fundamentals of the AIFC Law and English Law”.
