On December 9, 2019 the first Foundations Program for Future Lawyers award ceremony was held.
As part of its activities, the AIFC Academy of Law in September 2019 launched education program “the AIFC Foundations Program for Future Lawyers”, designed specifically for students currently enrolled in their third or fourth year of undergraduate legal studies, or in a postgraduate law program, or in other related.
The program consists of five (5) modules covering the key “foundational” subjects required for students to gain a comprehensive understanding of the AIFC legal system. The program includes the following modules: Foundations in AIFC Legal Framework; Foundations in AIFC Dispute Resolution; Foundations in AIFC Financial Services Regulation; Foundations in the Astana International Exchange (AIX); and Foundations in Islamic Finance.
The students were awarded certificates by members of the Academic Council of the AIFC Academy of Law, including Alexander Van de Putt, Chairman of the Academic Council, Igor Rogov, and Abdraimov Bakytzhan.
The event was attended by graduating students, invited guests, and university representatives. Among them were the Rector of the University of KazGUU, Narikbaev Talgat
Maksutovich, and Vice-Rector Of The Eurasian National University, Hamzabekuly Dihan.
In addition, memoranda of understanding were signed between the AIFC Authority and KAZGUU and Eurasian National universities.
During the opening ceremony, the Head of AIFC Academy of Law, David Gallo addressed the audience, and noted that 54 students from 4 Kazakhstan universities (KazGUU, ENU, KIMEP, Nazarbayev University) and from 2 foreign universities (University of Edinburgh, BPP University) had attended this course. Following numerous lectures and assignments that took place over several months, 32 students successfully completed the course, and 11 of them graduated with honours.
