The delegation of the AIFC headed by the Managing Director Nurzhan Kosbaev took part in the IX St. Petersburg International Legal Forum (SPBILF) in Russia. The business program of the forum included 80 discussion sessions with the most current trends in lawmaking and law enforcement.
The SPBILF 2019 was dedicated to the legal regulation of new technologies, intellectual property, the digital economy, international and national justice, and various legal innovations.
One of the main events during the SPBILF was the talk show “Common Law: Pro Et Contra”, where the Deputy Executive Director of the Foundation of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Leader of the Nation - Professor Igor Rogov and the Chairman of the AIFC Legal Advisory Council, the Royal Counsel, Michael Blair supported the precedent doctrine on the example of AIFC.
More than 140 participants of the SPBILF took part in the talk show. 64 percent of them considered that the precedent doctrine is an important component for the continental law and order.
Furthermore, representatives of the AIFC, Rogov and Blair, as well as a delegation from Kazakhstan led by the Minister of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan Beketaev delivered lectures at St. Petersburg State University. The main topic of the lectures was devoted to the legal development of Kazakhstan in the context of new political realities.
The forum is one of the key events for world law experts, gaining ever-increasing prestige. Annually, St. Petersburg receives about 5,000 participants from nearly 100 countries and more than 530 speakers, including ministers of justice, representatives of leading international organizations, judges, academics, partners of well-known law firms and general lawyers of global companies.
