AIFC Fintech Hub launches Venture Investment School
Astana International Financial Centre’s (AIFC) Fintech hub in partnership with the American-Russian venture fund Starta Ventures and the QazAngels business angel club is launching the Venture Investment School from 11 to 13 of May.
The three-day online program is designed for beginners as well as experienced investors looking to diversify their portfolio. The course will cover a wide range of investment topics, including: how the venture capital market works, the selection and evaluation of startups, stages of transactions, common mistakes that should be avoided, and more.
The school is held on the basis of VentureRocket Eurasia, a platform for investing and managing a startup ecosystem, launched by the AIFC Fintech Hub and the global research and innovation company Titanium Technologies at the end of January 2021.
The platform gives opportunity to attract regional and global alternative sources of capital for startups. For investors, this platform makes it possible to collaborate with approved startups, invest with partners, and gain access to a global network of ecosystem participants to support their startup portfolio.
In general, since August 2020, venture investment transactions in the amount of over USD 2 million have been structured at the AIFC site. Moreover, for the first time in the CIS jurisdiction such an investment instrument as a convertible note was used on the platform of AIFC.
“The jurisdiction of the AIFC is just emerging, but the principles that are laid down in it are advanced for the CIS. Perhaps this is the best construction in the CIS, ” – said Alexey Girin, co-founder and general partner of Starta Ventures, speaker of the Venture Investment School.
“We created the VentureRocket Eurasia platform to realize the potential of the venture capital market in Central Asia and the CIS. We also want to share our knowledge and experience so that investors can in the future themselves correctly assess startups and risks, understand the nuances of making investment deals, etc.,” – said Arslan Kudiyar, executive director of VentureRocket Eurasia and speaker of the Venture Investment School.
Registration for the Venture Investment School will be available until May 10 at the link: https://venturerocket.vc/education/.
