AIFC takes first place in the ratings of the Eastern Europe and Central Asia region

The Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC) reach 51th place out of 100 in the Global Financial Centres Index (GFCI), which is 37 positions higher than in March 2018. AIFC also took 1st place in the Eastern Europe and Central Asia region.
Independent experts at Z/Yen conduct a detailed analysis of the key components of the success of the world’s financial centres. The GFCI rating is compiled on the basis of more than 29,000 assessments of financial centres from an online questionnaire and considers more than 130 macroeconomic indicators from organizations such as the World Bank, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), etc.
GFCI includes criteria such as business environment, financial sector development, infrastructure factors, human capital, reputation and general factors. For the objectiveness of the rating, the opinion of respondents who are representatives of foreign financial markets is taken into account when evaluating a financial centre.

In December 2015 President Nazarbayev approved the Constitutional Statute “On the Astana International Financial Centre” (AIFC). The aim of the AIFC is to establish a leading international centre for financial services. The objectives of the AIFC are to attract investment into the economy through the establishment of an attractive environment for investment in financial services, develop local capital markets, ensuring their integration with the international capital markets.
