A joint communiqué was signed in Astana during the 1st Meeting of the Turkic Green Finance Council

On September 4, during the Astana Finance Days 2025 forum, the inaugural meeting of the Turkic Green Finance Council was held. The meeting was opened by Renat Bekturov, AIFC Governor, and Kubanychbek Omuraliev, Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS).

The meeting gathered heads and representatives of financial regulators, ministries of economy and finance, as well as stock exchanges from OTS Member States and Observers. The aim of the event was to discuss the development of green and sustainable finance in the countries and to work out further steps and proposals to build capacity, develop a portfolio of joint projects, and enhance regional cooperation.

The parties signed a joint communiqué affirming their commitment to sustainable green development, climate change adaptation, and environmental protection, guided by the principles of the Turkic Green Vision, as well as the Turkic World Vision 2040 and the OTS Strategy for 2022–2026.

Renat Bekturov, AIFC Governor, stated: “AIFC had an honour to welcome high-level representatives of the state bodies responsible for green and sustainable finance in their countries. I believe that such an initiative will enhance and widen current collaboration among our states and result in new ideas and solutions for a low-carbon economy and sustainable development”.

Kubanychbek Omuraliev, OTS Secretary General, said: “I would like to express my gratitude to the Kazakh side for the warm welcome and organization of the 1st Meeting of the Council. Our inaugural meeting was a success. We signed a communiqué, where Council Members expressed their interest in cooperation in different areas for a long-term period, including supporting harmonisation of green finance standards across the region, encouraging public-private partnerships in green finance and others”.

Turkic Green Finance Council was established in November 2024, with a permanent secretariat at the AIFC and a rotating chairmanship every three years. The next Council meeting will be held in Astana in 2026.
