A regular meeting of the Legal Advisory Council was held in London
A regular meeting of the AIFC Legal Advisory Council was held on 20th March at Baker & McKenzie office in London.
Introductory remarks were given by Kairat Kelimbetov, Governor of the AIFC. The meeting of the Legal Advisory Council was hosted by Roy Pearce, Partner of Baker & McKenzie.
In addition, Michael Blair QC (Chairman of the Legal Advisory Council, 3 Verulam Buildings), Christopher Campbell-Holt (Registrar of the AIFC Court and International Arbitration Centre), Simon FT Cox (Norton Rose Fulbright), Francis Fitzherbert-Brockholes (White & Case), Andrew Oldland QC (Michelmores) and Andrew Roberts (Herbert Smith Freehills) participated in the meeting as members of the Legal Advisory Council.
The agenda of the meeting was related to further development of the AIFC legal framework in 2018.

AIFC Legal Advisory Council. The Council was established in the form of an advisory body to AIFC in 2017. The tasks of the Council include consideration and examination of draft acts of AIFC, conducting other advisory work. In addition, the activities of the Council will facilitate the implementation and application in AIFC of the principles, norms and precedents of law in England and Wales, as well as the formation of a legal framework in accordance with the standards of the world’s leading financial centres.
