AIFC and IMEMO RAS agreed to cooperate in creating an attractive investment environment in the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation
The Authority of the Astana International Financial Centre (hereinafter – AIFC) and the Primakov National Research Institute of World Economy and International Relations of the Russian Academy of Sciences (hereinafter – IMEMO RAS) signed a memorandum of understanding.
The documents were signed by the Chief Economist – Board Member Baurzhan Bektemirov on behalf of the AIFC and Director Feodor Voitolovsky on behalf of IMEMO RAS.
By the agreements reached, the interaction of the Parties will be carried out in the field of achieving common goals for the development of international cooperation, the formation of scientific and expert information and its exchange in the main directions of interaction between the Parties, as well as the popularization of scientific and expert knowledge.
Within the document framework, the Parties intend to create scientific and expert teams and working groups to study the problems of the world economy and form relevant national practices.
It is planned to conduct joint educational programs on the evolution of world financial markets and the impact of world processes on the functioning of national economies.
Scientific and expert cooperation will be aimed at promoting the creation of an attractive investment environment in the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation considering the global processes taking place in the world.

The Astana International Financial Centre was created by the initiative of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Leader of the Nation, Nur-Sultan Nazarbayev as part of the “100 steps to implement five institutional reforms” national program. The Management council of the AIFC during the council’s meeting on July 2, 2020 approved the Centre’s development strategy until 2025. In accordance with the strategy, the vision of AIFC is in becoming the leading financial centre in the region that includes Central Asia, the Caucasus, EAEU countries, western China, Mongolia, and Eastern Europe.
The mission of the AIFC is in assisting the sustainable and long term development of the region. As the head of state Tokayev noted, “AIFC, with its unique opportunities, can act as a universal platform that connects the countries in the region.” The strategic directions for the sustainable development of the AIFC include the development of a circular economy, financial technologies, and “digital financial centre.” www.aifc.kz
Activities of the Federal State Budgetary Scientific Institution “the Primakov National Research Institute of World Economy and International Relations of the Russian Academy of Sciences” (IMEMO RAS) is aimed at studying the main trends in the development of modern world politics and the world economy, at developing a reliable analytical basis for making political decisions. The Institute independently determines the research program in accordance with its Charter. In its research, IMEMO takes an independent and uncommitted position.
