AIFC Green Finance Centre (GFC) met its strategic partner EBRD during the visit to AIFC. GFC’s Chief Executive Officer Assel Nurakhmetova presented Centre’s achievements for the second half of 2019 to the EBRD President Sir Suma Chakrabarti and the Vice President Ms. Annemarie Straathof. EBRD top management highly appreciated the work done on legislative harmonization for the development of green finance in Kazakhstan. They also noted that the Green Taxonomy drafted jointly with state authorities and the local business community is an important step for further development of green finance in Kazakhstan. The Green Taxonomy will serve as an appendix to the AIX Green Bond Rules. AIFC GFC continues its work with potential issuers of green bonds. Importantly, a landmark event at the end of 2019 was the establishment of the AIFC GFC as a separate legal entity and AIFC participant.
