Astana International Financial Centre and blockchain company Bitfury agreed on strategic cooperation in the field of creating projects using blockchain technology. Bitfury also plans to open datacentres in Kazakhstan to further diversify the work environment.
“We are pleased to welcome Bitfury in Kazakhstan and AIFC is ready to support the development and distribution of blockchain technology in the region. I am confident that the development of human capital will receive an additional inducement as well,” said Governor of AIFC Kairat Kelimbetov.
“We are honoured to work in Kazakhstan in partnership with AIFC,” said Valery Vavilov, CEO of Bitfury. “We are encouraged by their enthusiasm for more transparent systems as well as their commitment to participate in a growing global economy powered by blockchain technology. We look forward to serving the citizens of Kazakhstan and the region in these efforts.”
“Bitfury has already shown its strong commitment to education and equal access to technology through its blockchain operations in the Republic of Georgia and Ukraine, among others,” mentioned Timur Bairov, head of Bitfury Kazakhstan. “We believe that we can help build a brighter future for the citizens of Kazakhstan by introducing blockchain technology across many sectors.”
Bitfury also plans to develop human capital by launching education and training programs in partnership with the AIFC Bureau for Continuing Professional Development, thus start-ups and IT companies in Kazakhstan and Central Asia will have the opportunity to collaborate with a major technology player creating products on the AIFC platform. Successful startups that have passed mentoring and created projects on the basis of the AIFC Fintech Hub will be promoted by Bitfury around the world, including receiving expertise and mentoring from company representatives.
Bitfury also announced a strategic partnership with the Akimat of the city of Nur-Sultan to create social projects at the AIFC platform that expand the sector using blockchain technology.
Also, Bitfury, being a supporter of the new technologies for energy efficiency and concern for nature, plans to create a "green" financing fund. This initiative will help Kazakhstan to attract additional investments in the sector of green economy and the development of innovative and environmentally friendly industries. Bitfury's choice of the AIFC site for further development is an indicator of increased investor confidence in the new ecosystem of financial markets, protection of the rights and interests of consumers of financial services and investors, as well as of trade and investment cooperation.
