Astana International Financial Centre (hereinafter – AIFC), Bloomberg L.P. and Atameken Business Channel signed an agreement on cooperation and media support of investment opportunities in the Republic of Kazakhstan, development of AIFC, green finance, Islamic finance, financial and capital markets.

The agreement was signed by Mr Kairat Kelimbetov, Governor, AIFC, Mr Nurlan Kussainov, CEO, AIFC Authority JSC, Mr Justin B. Smith, CEO, Bloomberg Media Group, and Mr Kanat Sakhariyanov, Chairman of the Supervisory Board, Atameken Business Channel.

According to the terms of the agreement, Bloomberg shall set up and equip a television studio ready for live broadcast within the global media system Bloomberg TV, create unique content based on information provided by the AIFC, and conduct a comprehensive campaign for the international promotion of AIFC on Bloomberg’s on-air television, digital and print platforms.

"The fact that Bloomberg is entering the Kazakhstani market is very promising and significant. It is a historic moment. Thanks to cooperation with Bloomberg, information about AIFC's investment opportunities, prospects, preferences and benefits will become known worldwide," Mr Kairat Kelimbetov, Governor, AIFC said.

As part of the partnership, the parties also agreed to develop business journalism in Kazakhstan. Representatives of Bloomberg will conduct training and lectures on business, financial and television journalism on the premises of Atameken Business Channel, as well as participate in business and media forums.

AIFC: In December 2015 President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev signed the Constitutional law “On the Astana International Financial Centre” (AIFC). The aim of the AIFC is to form a leading international centre of financial services. For the first time in post-Soviet Region, Common law framework will be introduced in the AIFC. English shall be the official language of the AIFC.
