Belt and Road Initiative Investment Council creation is announced at AIFC

Astana International Financial Center (AIFC) announced the creation of Belt and Road Initiative Investment Council (BRI Investment Council), a non-government sponsored organization, acting as an advisory committee. The mission of BRI Investment Council is to support, accelerate and diversify the development of Kazakhstan’s economy; to highlight and strengthen the role of Kazakhstan in Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) construction and cooperation in the region; to highlight and strengthen the role of AIFC in BRI investment and financing in the region.

The following organizations expressed their willingness to join the BRI Investment Council:  AIFC, Shanghai Stock Exchange, Silk Road Fund, China International Capital Corporation, Brillink Bank, Samruk-Kazyna Invest, China Construction Bank Astana Branch, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China Almaty, Bank of China Kazakhstan, Dentons Kazakhstan and China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Representative Office in Kazakhstan.

The AIFC Governor, Dr Kairat Kelimbetov, noted: “The financial and investment cooperation between Kazakhstan and China remains great potential, continue promoting mutual understanding, efficient communication and information exchange between Kazakhstan’s industrial sectors and China’s investment and financing sectors. AIFC’s comprehensive solutions can serve as the practical application widely used among Kazakhstan’s investable projects and China’s investment communities to further promote investment and financing cooperation between Kazakhstan’s and China’s financial institutions regarding supporting Kazakhstan’s investment investable projects.”

 

     Business Coverage of BRI Investment Council are as follows:  

  • To identify several preferred industries to be supported by BRI and “Nurly Zhol” new economic policy, include but not limited to green energy, AI, E-commerce, digital economy, modern medicine, and modern agriculture.
  • To promote mutual understanding, efficient communication and information exchange between Kazakhstan’s industrial sectors and China’s investment and financing sector.
  • To promote AIFC’s comprehensive solution among both the project owners of the Kazakhstan’s investable project and China’s investors and financial institutions.
  • To promote investment and financing cooperation between Kazakhstan’s and China’s financial institutions regarding supporting Kazakhstan’s investable projects.
  • To support Kazakhstan entities (government, companies, major projects and financial institutions) to reach as much financial resource as possible, including resource from China and from other counties or areas and help them to raise as much capital as possible via stocks, equities, debts, bonds and other financial instruments.
