Presidents of Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan visited Astana International Financial Centre
As part of the official visit by the President of Azerbaijan to Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Ilham Aliyev visited the Astana International Financial Centre.
During their visit, the Heads of State took a tour of the AIFC Court. The Registrar and Chief Executive of the AIFC Court and International Arbitration Centre, Christopher Campbell-Holt, briefed them on the functioning of the region’s first judicial system, which is based on the norms and principles of English law. He also highlighted that the AIFC Court, which deals with civil and commercial disputes, operates according to the highest international standards.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Ilham Aliyev were also introduced to the operations of the Astana Financial Services Authority and Business Development Group. AIFC Tech Hub representatives briefed the leaders of two countries on the progress made in venture capital financing and technological innovations. They also toured the Expat Centre which operates on a “one-stop-shop” principle to support AIFC participants. The AIFC Governor, Renat Bekturov, provided the Heads of State with an update on the Centre’s current activities.
Concluding the visit, the President of Azerbaijan left a message in the book of distinguished guests of the Astana International Financial Centre.
