Representatives of the AIFC Green Finance Centre (hereinafter - GFC) took part in the first webinar in Kazakhstan dedicated to the topic of green bonds.

The webinar was organised by RAEX-Europe, an independent European rating agency, part of the RAEX international group which has more than 20 years of experience in the rating and analytical industry. The agency assigns classic credit ratings on an international scale, as well as non-credit ESG ratings (environmental, social, and corporate). RAEX-Europe also issues ESG ranking and verification for green bonds.

Representatives of the GFC Manas Gizhduaniev and Nagima Ayubaeva familiarised the participants of the webinar with activities of the Centre and its achieved results. They also discussed about green bonds and related services, as well as the advantages of the AIFC platform for market participants.

Particular attention at the webinar was paid to the debut issue of green bonds on the Astana International Exchange, which took place on the 11th of August 2020. Adina Berikkyzy, Director of the Funding and International Relations Department of the “DAMU” Entrepreneurship Development Fund” JSC, who is a representative of the issuer of green bonds, also took part at the webinar and spoke about the implemented green investment  projects within the framework of this issue.

The Astana International Financial Centra was created by the initiative of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Leader of the Nation, Nur-Sultan Nazarbayev as part of the “100 steps to implement five institutional reforms” national program. The Centre’s development strategy until 2025 was approved by the Management council of the AIFC during the council’s meeting on July 2, 2020. In accordance with the strategy, the vision of AIFC is in becoming the leading financial centre in the region that includes Central Asia, the Caucasus, EAEU countries, western China, Mongolia, and Eastern Europe.
