Representatives of the AIFC Green Finance Centre visited Bishkek to promote the regional initiative on the Green Investment Principles for the Belt and Road (GIP)

From September 6 to 8, 2021, the Green Finance Centre as part of the AIFC delegation visited Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan), where it held a number of meetings with representatives of state bodies, the Union of Banks of Kyrgyzstan, as well as separate meetings with Optima Bank, RSK, Bakay Bank in order to establish cooperation in the field of sustainable finance and promote the regional GIP initiative.

It should be noted that in June of this year, the Centre has become the GIP regional office in Central Asia, within the framework of which it is planned to carry out activities to build the capacity of financial institutions through the GFLP program, assist developers of green projects in finding potential investors through the GIP platform and expand the scale of sustainable financing in the region.

Following the meetings in Bishkek, an agreement was reached with the Union of Banks of Kyrgyzstan to conduct educational events in the field of sustainable finance and exchange experience in terms of stimulating business and developing a national green taxonomy.

The possibility of including green projects of the Ministry of Investment of the Kyrgyz Republic in the GIP database to attract thematic investors will be worked out.

Negotiations were held with the Kyrgyz Stock Exchange to exchange experience in the development of the green bond market, as well as the introduction of ESG reporting for exchange participants.
