Official launch of the AIFC Law Pro Bono Office took place on 1 July 2019 in Nur-Sultan under the umbrella of Astana Finance Days.
The event was attended by representatives of leading international and local law firms such as Baker & McKenzie, White & Case, Norton Rose Fulbright LLP, Curtis Mallet-Prevost, Grata International and others.
In the welcoming speech First Deputy CEO of the AIFC Authority Mr Marat Aitenov noted that the AIFC Law Pro Bono Office seeks to create a win-win situation where the both pro bono practitioner and applicant may benefit from this pro bono initiative.
“Following the launch of the AIFC, Kazakhstan is now in unique position of strengthening its rule of law by offering access to legal consultations within the AIFC, which has a unique legal system that is unprecedented in the region. The AIFC Law Pro Bono Office seeks to provide discrete one-off legal advice and consultation on legal issues that arise within the AIFC jurisdiction. The aim of the scheme is to ensure that everyone has access to legal consultations and justice in broader term, and most importantly, free of charge,” Mr Aitenov said.
AIFC Law Pro Bono Office offers free legal advice on legal issues that arise within the AIFC jurisdiction by volunteer legal practitioners to those that require legal advice. The AIFC Law Pro Bono Office is a unique platform which represents the set of traditional pro bono values with wider implications for the AIFC.
