AIFC Tech Hub continues to support investment projects of international big tech companies

With the support of the AIFC Tech Hub, JSC “NC” KTZ” signed a memorandum of understanding with the international satellite communication company “Network Access Associates Ltd.” (hereinafter – OneWeb). The memorandum was signed on February 02, 2023 as part of the annual international forum Digital Almaty 2023.

As part of cooperation with OneWeb, it is planned to launch tests of satellite terminals on the railway of Kazakhstan. Receiving a signal from a low-orbit satellite constellation will ensure communication stability and the ability to use it as a backup channel at stations. This will improve safety and efficiency by equipping far-flung facilities and trains with communications and the Internet.

According to Anuar Akhmetzhanov, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board for Strategy and Digitalization of JSC “NC” KTZ”, cooperation with OneWeb will allow exploring the possibilities of low-orbit satellite constellations to provide high-speed connections to ensure the digitalization of railway infrastructure, including railway stations, seaports, ships and rolling stock.

Tech Hub, in turn, continues to work to find and support international technology giants and their participation in investment projects in Central Asia.
