Tashkent International Investment Forum – a platform for strengthening multilateral cooperation

CEO of the AIFC Green Finance Centre Aidar Kazybayev took part in the Tashkent International Investment Forum.

The Tashkent Forum is dedicated to attracting foreign investors, financial and economic organizations interested in expanding their activities in Uzbekistan and was held with the participation of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The Forum was attended by more than two thousand participants – large investors from 56 countries of the world.

As it has been noticed by the organizers, the Tashkent Forum is a new dialogue platform for discussing and implementing strategic initiatives, demonstrating the country’s investment opportunities.

Within the framework of the Forum, A. Kazybayev held a meeting with the management of JSC “Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Combine”, JSC “Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Combine”, JSC “Uzkimyosanoat” and other large companies with a proposal to attract investments in a sustainable economy with the help of sustainable financial instruments such as green, social and sustainable bonds, as well as ESG transformation and reporting.

Kazybayev also held a meeting with First Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic Aziz Aaliyev on the possibility of placing sovereign green bonds of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan in the amount of 500 million US dollars with the participation of the Green Finance Center as a green consultant for this transaction.

The AIFC Green Finance Centre is a subsidiary organisation of the AIFC Authority and the Eurasian Development Bank, aimed at introduction and development of sustainable finance instruments and attracting of investments in environmental and social projects in Kazakhstan and Central Asia.

The AIFC Green Finance Centre supported the very first issuance of green bonds and first verified green loan in Kazakhstan. Also, the Centre introduced definitions of green finance and green taxonomy (a classifier of economic activities and projects that meet technical selection criteria) in the national environmental legislation. The new legislation provides incentives for entrepreneurs who use green finance instruments.
