AIX Qazaq Index rises on gradual stabilization in Kazakhstan
Astana International Exchange (“AIX”, the “Exchange”) is pleased to announce that the AIX Qazaq Index (“AIXQI”, the “Index”), which measures the performance of companies related to Kazakhstan, rose 19.45 points (+1.91%) from 1016.15 (as of January 5, 2022) to 1035.6 (as of January 12, 2022). The AIX is operating again in business-as-usual mode since Monday 10th January.
AIXQI consists of shares and Global Depositary Receipts of nine Kazakh companies traded on the AIX, the Kazakhstan Stock Exchange and the London Stock Exchange. These companies include those incorporated in Kazakhstan or those whose revenues are generated partly or wholly in Kazakhstan, or a substantial portion of their operations are conducted in Kazakhstan.

AIX was formed in 2017 within the Astana International Financial Centre development framework. AIX shareholders are AIFC, Goldman Sachs, the Shanghai stock exchange, the silk Road Fund, and NASDAQ, which also provides the AIX trading platform. The Astana International Financial Centre was established on the initiative of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan – Elbasy Nursultan Nazarbayev as part of the National Plan “100 steps to implement five institutional reforms”. On July 2, 2020, as part of the meeting of the AIFC Management Council, the Center’s Development Strategy was adopted until 2025.
