The retreat of Committees of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the development of the Astana International Financial Centre took place today
The AIFC Governor Kairat Kelimbetov, the chairmen and deputies of the Committee on Finance and Budget, and the Committee on Economic Policy, Innovation Development and Entrepreneurship of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan attended the retreat on the development of the Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC) which was held today.
At the retreat, K. Kelimbetov presented the AIFC activities and informed the deputies about its establishment and prospects. The Governor of the AIFC noted that the official launch of the AIFC Bodies took place on January 1, 2018. The Astana Financial Services Authority (AFSA), AIFC Independent Court, International Arbitration Centre (IAC), AIX Exchange and Expat Centre have already commenced their operations.
The main directions of the AIFC activity are the capital market, asset management, private banking, Islamic finance and financial technologies.
The retreat’s participants discussed further development of the Centre, cooperation between AIFC and the Government, state bodies, national companies, and leading foreign and Kazakh media.
The Governor of the AIFC also informed the deputies about upcoming events, which will take place during the International Presentation of the AIFC on July 5, 2018.
At the end of the presentation, during the Q&A session deputies could ask any question regarding the AIFC’s activity and were provided with the detailed answers.

In December 2015 President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev signed the Constitutional law “On the Astana International Financial Centre” (AIFC). The aim of the AIFC is to form a leading international centre of financial services. For the first time in post-Soviet region Common law framework has been introduced in the AIFC. English is the official language of the AIFC.
