AIFC welcomes Deputy Governors of the regions and cities of Nur-Sultan, Almaty and Shymkent
The Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC) in close cooperation with JSC NC “Kazakh Invest”, central governmental bodies and competent organizations hosted two days introductory sessions for the Deputy Governors of the regions and cities of Nur-Sultan, Almaty and Shymkent on application of the AIFC jurisdiction in attraction of investments.
The primary goal of the sessions was to provide Deputy Governors of the regions, representatives of regional public authorities and regional organisations responsible for investments with general and practical information on AIFC infrastructure and opportunities of the unique AIFC platform. The seminar has received excellent feedback from attendees, many of whom have expressed their interest in working within the AIFC on future investment projects. More than 150 guests attended the event on 21 and 22 October.
The event consisted of three parts over the course of two days.
AIFC bodies including AIFC Court and International Arbitration Centre, AIFC Academy of Law, AIFC Expat Centre, Astana Financial Services Authority and Astana International Exchange presented to the Deputy Governors, representatives of regional public authorities and JSC NC “Kazakh Invest” Representative offices their activities, services and products. After that Mr. Marat Aitenov, First Deputy CEO of the AIFC Authority, presented the topic “Practical Aspects of the AIFC Law in Interaction with the Needs of the Regions”. Other speakers, Birzhan Kaneshev, Deputy CEO of JSC “NC” Kazakh Invest “, Yermek Kosherbayev, deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Rustem Kurmanov, vice-minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Ablaykhan Ospanov, vice-minister of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Yerlan Khairov, Special Ambassador of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, discussed activities, tools, attractions and digital creation on investments.
In the framework of seminar, AIFC participants such as Tabys Agro Ast, KazPV Ltd, Global Apartments Ltd, China Construction Bank, China Development Bank, Halyk Finance Astana, Emirates Legal Ltd, Altyn Bank, Russell Bedfort A+ Partners and Ozara Finance Limited presented their practical vision on application of the AIFC and its jurisdiction to structure investment projects.
Seminar provided required information and materials on application of AIFC jurisdiction to attract investments of the regions.
The introductory seminars for Deputy Governors of the regions were enhanced by the instructions given by the Prime Minister Askar Mamin. The Prime Minister chaired a meeting of the Coordinating Council on Attracting Investments at the AIFC premises on the first day of the seminar. In order to increase investment activity in the regions, the Prime Minister instructed to study the implementation of projects structured under the AIFC law and using its jurisdiction.

AIFC. The Astana International Financial Center (AIFC) was created on the initiative of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev. The constitutional law on the establishment of the AIFC was signed by the Head of State on December 7, 2015. AIFC’s goal is to form a leading center of financial services at the international level.
