OneWeb Kazakhstan opens broadband demonstration showroom in AIFC

Participant of the Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC) OneWeb Kazakhstan Ltd. plans to hold a demonstration of services for potential distributor partners and corporate clients in its showroom “B2B demo zone” at the AIFC Tech Hub in Nur-Sultan. Demonstration of qualitatively new opportunities of OneWeb high-speed satellite Internet at the AIFC platform is aimed to create a point of attraction for government and business leaders of Kazakhstan and Central Asia, as well as to outline for visitors the benefits of implementing major investment and technological projects in the AIFC jurisdiction.

Neil Masterson, CEO of OneWeb commented:

“We are excited to work with Astana International Financial Centre, Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of Kazakhstan and other local partners as well as the opportunity to demonstrate the truly innovative satellite connection, that transforms infocomm industry and which OneWeb is poised to bring to Kazakhstan. As part of our global vision to connect the world to high-performance, low-latency satellite connectivity, OneWeb is pleased to take part in the implementation of Kazakhstan’s 4th national project to enable digitalization and technological breakthroughs.”

Pavel Koktyshev, Chief Executive Officer of the AIFC Tech Hub commented:

“The presentation of OneWeb technologies clearly demonstrates what opportunities are opening up for us that recently seemed fantastic. Thanks to OneWeb Kazakhstan, registered under AIFC jurisdiction, the problem of covering distant areas of the country (617 localities), strategic and industrial facilities with high-quality high-speed Internet can be solved. Such pilots are capable of bringing a real socio-economic effect, qualitatively improving the lives of our citizens, increasing the attractiveness of the country and the AIFC, including for the creation of joint ventures and new international transactions”.

Earlier at the Digital Bridge forum, CEO of OneWeb Neil Masterson held the first-ever public demonstration of broadband Internet access via a low-orbit satellite system (LEO system). In tests using video conferencing, content streaming, and cloud-based applications, the OneWeb network showed successful results with peak speeds in both the ground-to-satellite and satellite-to-ground directions and low signal latency. When working with local telecom operators, OneWeb takes a customer-centric approach, adapting service packages to the needs of corporate and government structures, as well as connecting remote rural communities. LEO satellites play an important role in reducing the digital divide and enabling the transition to a digital economy. One Web is going to work with telecom operators in Kazakhstan by providing broadband Internet access to government and business entities, as well as remote rural areas across the country in order to achieve these goals.
