Sustainable development seminar was held at the AIFC site

Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC) and SKOLKOVO Moscow Management School organised a business seminar “Sustainable development strategies and ESG: challenges and solutions”. The event was organized under the agreement on cooperation in the field of sustainable development in the Republic of Kazakhstan, signed this year in August among the Astana International Financial Centre Authority, the Agency for strategic planning and reforms of the Republic of Kazakhstan and SKOLKOVO Moscow Management School.

The purpose of the seminar is to systematize current trends in sustainable development, regulatory changes and best world practices. The participants noted that the government and the business community are currently facing the challenge of preparing change leaders who are able to integrate the principles and goals of sustainable development into business management. The event provided an opportunity to exchange experiences in the field of sustainable development among companies of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the public sector and the international expert community.

The speakers of the panel discussion “The main challenges of ESG strategies in Kazakhstan and the results of the UN climate conference in Glasgow” were AIFC Governor Kairat Kelimbetov, Co-managing Director for Strategy, sustainable development and digital transformation of Samruk-Kazyna Ernat Berdigulov, President of SKOLKOVO Moscow Management School Andrey Sharonov.

Professor Dr. Alexander Van de Putte, Chief Strategy Officer of the AIFC Governor’s Council spoke on the topic “The AIFC Strategy to promote sustainable, inclusive and sustainable growth”. Professor for strategic management, IESE Business School (Spain) Mike Rosenberg held a master class on “Sustainable Development Strategies and ESG: Challenges and Solutions” topic.

Astana International Financial Centre was established on the initiative of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan – Elbasy Nursultan Nazarbayev as part of the National Plan “100 steps to implement five institutional reforms”.
