President of the Republic of Albania Bairam Begay visited Astana International Financial Centre

President of Albania, Bairam Begay, during his official visit to Kazakhstan visited the Astana International Financial Centre (hereinafter – AIFC or the Centre). Renat Bekturov, the AIFC Governor, introduced the esteemed foreign dignitary to the AIFC’s bodies and its activities. 

The Registrar and Chief Executive of the AIFC Court and International Arbitration Centre, Christopher Campbell-Holt, provided insights into the operation of Central Asia’s first judicial system, which is based on the principles and norms of case law. 

President Bairam Begay delved into the activities of the Astana Financial Services Authority (AFSA) and gained a comprehensive understanding of the AIFC’s jurisdiction and the distinctive features of its regulatory framework. 

The Governor also briefed the distinguished guest on the current activities of the Centre, highlighting its potential as a dynamic investment financial hub in the region. He emphasised the AIFC’s role in facilitating interaction with global financial markets and granting access to diverse sources of financing. The Governor noted that the AIFC has welcomed to date over 2100 registered companies from 78 countries, including 25 enterprises from South-Eastern Europe.
