AIFC expands cooperation with the Republic of Tatarstan in innovation, investment, and digitalization

The Astana International Financial Centre (hereinafter – AIFC) and the Government of the Republic of Tatarstan signed a roadmap for cooperation and consideration of the possibility of using the infrastructure and ecosystem of the AIFC to promote and continue the development of investments, innovations and digitalization in the Republic of Tatarstan.

The roadmap was signed by President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and the Governor of the Astana International Financial Centre Kairat Kelimbetov.

The parties intend to cooperate in the areas of issuing Islamic and green securities, investment projects of the agro-industry of the Republic of Tatarstan for inclusion in the food security program pool, exchange of experience on ESG projects, support in the development and financing of venture projects, as well as the organization of joint educational programs for the training of IT specialists and the development of digital skills.

Taking into account the strategic goals of becoming the AIFC as a leading international financial center in the Central Asia, Caucasus, EAEU countries, Western China, Mongolia and Eastern Europe, this cooperation agreement is a confident step for the AIFC in terms of regional expansion.

The Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC) was established on the initiative of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev. The constitutional law establishing the AIFC was signed on December 7, 2015. The goal of the AIFC is to form a leading centre for international financial services. The objectives of the AIFC are to assist in attracting investments in the country's economy, creating an attractive environment for investing in financial services, developing the securities market of the Republic of Kazakhstan and ensuring its integration with international capital markets.
