SCMP and AIFC sign MoU to advance economic connectivity between Central Asia and China including Hong Kong
The South China Morning Post (SCMP) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the JSC Astana International Financial Centre Authority (AIFC Authority), aiming to promote business connections and unlock new growth opportunities across Kazakhstan, Hong Kong and Chinese Mainland.
Tammy Tam, Publisher, South China Morning Post, said, “SCMP has long served as a leading English-language news platform rooted in Hong Kong, delivering authoritative insights on China, including Hong Kong, to a global audience. This collaboration combines our editorial expertise and international reach with AIFC’s leadership to strengthen engagement between Central Asia and China, including Hong Kong, and foster an environment where investment, innovation and cross-border partnerships can thrive. We also look forward to bringing SCMP’s flagship China Conference: Central Asia to Astana this September.”
Central Asia is emerging as the key growth engine and global trade corridor, and Hong Kong continues to deepen the engagement with Central Asia through expanding financial and trade ties. In times of the HKSAR Chief Executive John Lee leading a delegation visiting Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, this MoU highlights the growing importance of cross-border collaboration and established high-trust platforms that can facilitate meaningful conversations and empower key decision makers in seizing the regional growth.
The Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC) is an innovative financial hub in Central Asia, designed to connect global capital with the vast opportunities of emerging markets.
Bakhtiyar Tleubekov, Chairman of the Management Board, JSC Astana International Financial Centre Authority: “Kazakhstan and Central Asia are increasingly attracting the attention of international investors, while Hong Kong remains one of the world’s leading financial gateways to Asia. Through this partnership with the South China Morning Post, we aim to strengthen economic dialogue and business connectivity between Central Asia and China. Greater awareness, stronger connections, and open dialogue are essential for unlocking new investment opportunities and supporting sustainable growth across our regions.”
