AIFC representatives participate in Club First Kazakhstan business meeting in Almaty

On 10 July, a business meeting organised by Club First Kazakhstan was held in Almaty with the participation of representatives of the Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC), professional services providers operating within the AIFC jurisdiction, and members of the business community.

During the event, AIFC representatives presented the opportunities the Centre offers to businesses, explained the key features of company registration within the AIFC jurisdiction, and highlighted the advantages of operating under the principles of English common law. Participants also had the opportunity to engage with experts, ask questions, and receive practical guidance on leveraging AIFC instruments to support business growth.

The discussion focused on three key topics: the AIFC tax regime, choosing the optimal corporate structure, and modern approaches to business structuring using the tools of English common law.

During the panel session, experts explored the key features of the AIFC tax regime and discussed effective tax planning and regulatory compliance. Particular attention was given to practical recommendations for entrepreneurs on selecting the most appropriate business structure.

As part of the discussion on corporate structures, participants examined the differences between a Kazakhstan LLP and an AIFC-registered Private Company. Experts outlined the advantages of English common law, mechanisms for protecting shareholders’ rights, corporate governance practices, and the factors that enhance the confidence of international investors.

A separate session was dedicated to the activities of the AIFC Academy. Representatives of the Academy presented its educational programmes, professional training and upskilling opportunities, and explained how the Academy supports companies and professionals in developing competencies in finance, law, compliance, corporate governance, and other disciplines essential for operating in the international business environment.

The meeting concluded with an exchange of views on the most common mistakes entrepreneurs make when choosing a corporate structure, as well as a discussion of the factors that will shape business competitiveness amid Kazakhstan’s growing integration into international financial markets.

The panel discussion served as a platform for open dialogue between the business community and AIFC experts, providing participants with practical recommendations on leveraging the opportunities offered by the international financial jurisdiction to support sustainable business growth.
